How to open apps/folders quickly on a Mac?

Question:

I want to be able to open applications, folders and files with the smallest amount of clicks as possible. I’ve used Quicksilver for a couple of years now, but it doesn’t always find the particular folder I am looking for. Any ideas?

Answer:

Alfred is definitely the way to go with this. It doesn’t have to index anything and “just works” right out of the box. The beta version is free currently and works great. You have to pay for the ‘Powerpack’ plugins, but that is more for doing things particular to a certain application. The beta version will do you fine for what you are asking. It has replaced Quicksilver for me, not that Quicksilver doesn’t have it’s advantages. You can also check out Mac.AppStorms more detailed review of Alfred here.

CONTEST!
Currently there is a contest running on Mac.AppStorm right now to win a Powerpack license for Alfred and it’s super easy to enter.
